Dumbbells Or Resistance Bands - Which is Better?

All the different types of home workout DVDs and systems available today usually have some sort of sculpting section. Muscle burns calories even when you are sitting around watching TV, so increasing muscle and toning up are usually recommended in most workouts.

In order to tone muscle you need some sort of resistance. Dumbbells are good because they are actual weight, and some people like the heavy feeling they produce, but they can take up a lot of space in your home and cost a lot of money.

Just imagine if you bought a 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 pound set of dumbbells. How much space would that take up? Another option is to buy a set of interchangeable weight plates. While this is a good alternative, changing the plates for each exercise can be quite cumbersome and once again space becomes an issue.

What about resistance bands? Resistance bands are a great alternative for a few reasons. First, they are compact. Some band sets will come with a travel bag for easy storage and will only take up a small corner of your closet or you can hang them on a hook.

Second, they are light. Moving the bands from room to room is easy since they don't weigh very much. And if you work out in a different room than where you store them, they won't be a hassle to carry.

Third, they are cost efficient. A set of bands that are equivalent to 88 pounds will cost you about . That is more weight than most people will ever need for a good price.

Bands do take a bit of getting used to and seem to work better for some exercises than others. But one thing is for sure- you can definitely get a good muscle workout with them.

How to Develop the Ideal Shape for Your Pecs - Chest Workout for a More Masculine Shape

!9# How to Develop the Ideal Shape for Your Pecs - Chest Workout for a More Masculine Shape

Did you know that there is an ideal shape for your chest? Yes, a masculine chest should not look like a woman's breast. In this information, we will provide you some guidance on how to achieve a more masculine chest with the right focus on your chest workouts.

How should a male chest look like? A rounded and soft looking chest is not what you want to achieve. Instead, the most ideal shape for the pecs is an angular and square shape.

The problem with most chest workout routines is that it focuses mostly on the lower chest. This is particularly true with basic bench press. The basic bench press is great for developing size and power but the emphasis on the lower chest will create a rounded shape for your pecs.

If you want to develop a square-shaped chest, then you need to lessen the emphasis on the lower chest. Most men have an underdeveloped upper and middle chest. This is what you need to concentrate on.

From the information above, how do you build the upper pecs? To develop the upper chest muscles, you need to incorporate inclined pressing movements to your chest routine. Make it a point to begin your chest workout with inclined press workouts such as inclined dumbbell presses and cable crossovers.

My personal favorite is to start with inclined dumbbell presses in an adjustable bench. You can feel the inner part of the upper chest getting tired with this exercise.

Within a few weeks, observe your chest. If you see the line between your pecs getting more prominent up to the collar bone, then you are starting to achieve the square-shaped pecs.
